I just used my own mp3 and it worked fine. Great book by the way.

Thanks for pointing that out. I made some changes and this may have gotten lost in the mix. It’s updated now.

The book is very good and the examples are understandable.
ContactManager provides the function for user to modify the uploaded xml information, but the new information could never be sent back to the server. If the ContactManager could provide this function, it will be a perfect example. By the way, how could we send the updated information back to the server and update its xml file? Is this difficult?
Cheers

I have the same question, concerning the ability to update information in a data base. I can only assume that adding or updating data would be possible in Flex but in all my studying I have been unable to figure this one out. Is this difficult?

Updating information in a database is a complex question…what kind of database, server, etc. But rest assured you can connect to just about anything. If you use ColdFusion, the ColdFusion Extensions for Flex Builder will get you quite far, as they will even create the code you need to update, delete, create, and modify a database in ColdFusion.

Thank you for the quick informative reply, and thank you for the wonderful book that is a fun and easy to follow. It looks like I might be in for another book in addition to software – Are you working on an equaly informtive and helpful book on ColdFusion?
Thanks again!

Not that I know of
I know ColdFusion pretty well, but not sure I’m the best person to write a book on it. There’s a few out there on ColdFusion 8, such as ColdFusion 8 Developer Tutorial.

Thanks Alaric, the book is great and the examples are easy to understand.
One question that I have is, if I bookmark the site greenlike.com/flex/learning/14/PhotoGallery/PhotoGallery.html and want to refer to it later IE generates an error with “Operation Aborted” message. Is this a MS Internet Explorer problem or it has to do with the way Flex code is written?
Thanks again!
